Vanessa W. Thomas is a 37-year resident of the State of Georgia and serves as a member of the McDonough, Georgia City Council. As a retired U.S. Federal Government public servant, Councilmember Thomas now serves the community and advocates for her constituents by upholding the live/work/play balance platform. Her work, alongside the Mayor and Council, creates opportunities for citizens and youth to establish affordable places to live, creating jobs, places for families to go for entertainment, opportunities for internships, employment, and educational seminars throughout the City of McDonough.
Experienced as a paralegal; registered mediator; administrative supervisor; management/program analyst and real estate agent, Councilwoman Thomas uses her background as leverage to promote positive change in the City of McDonough.
As a graduate from the University of Louisville with Bachelor of Science Degree in Office Administration, she also holds certifications from the National Center for Paralegal Training, Gwinnett Technical College, and Central Texas College. In addition to her extensive training and education, she serves as the HOA Board President for her community.
As a 32-year active member of World Changers Church International (WCCI), her Skills and training aided in the formation of the community outreach legal ministry which has impacted lives for over 20 years. Her service at WCCI also includes her volunteerism on several community outreach projects.
Her additional accomplishments includes serving on the Board of Zoning Appeals for the City of McDonough and former Board Chair of the Henry County, Henry First Program.
As a City Councilwoman, she will be working with the Mayor and City Council to help improve the quality of life for the citizens of McDonough by advocating for:
