Summer Concert Series Ends on a High
This year, the Main Street McDonough Program’s Summer Concert Series has had three fantastic bands perform over the summer months ending on Saturday, 9-17-11, with a favorite of the citizens of McDonough, The Infinity Show Band from Atlanta.
This seven member band rocked the Square with oldies and recent hits so familiar to the huge crowd gathered for an evening’s entertainment under the stars that many were singing along.
“This band was back for the second year in a row due to popular demand,” said Main Street Director Linda Schenk. “They filled this Square both years they performed as part of the Summer Concert Series.”
One lady in the audience asked if they were scheduled to appear next year and followed her question by stating she would even get a petition circulating to be able to have The Infinity Show Band back in 2012 if that would help. Once you have been a member of the audience when this particular band was on stage, it would be obvious why she made that statement.
Three outstanding bands appeared on the Summer Concert Series stage this season: The Alabama Blues Brothers, The Sean Shuffler Band and The Infinity Show Band. Main Street organized it a little differently this year from past years. Instead of having approximately 5 or 6 bands involved, one performing each month, some of the months’ entertainment turned from stage to screen with Cinema on the Green featuring a popular recently released movie showing on a large screen also taking place in the Square. Both entertainment venues are always free and family friendly.
The next event on Main Street’s radar is the ‘Fall & Food Fest on the Square’ taking place on October 8th, 10am-5pm. For more information on this and other upcoming Main Street events call 770-898-9868.
