General Information For Candidates Wishing To Run For Elected Municipal Office

A Public Notice is published in the Henry Daily Herald prior to February 1st of a year in which there is a November election. In this specified ad, it is stated the municipal seats which are up for election, the qualifying fees and the qualifying dates.

Qualifications for Elected Officials in McDonough:

  1. Candidate must be a McDonough resident for at least 12 months prior to the election.
  2. There must be continued residency during the term of office and the candidate must be registered and qualified to vote in the City election.
  3. Candidate must have paid the qualifying fee.
  4. Candidate must give written notice of candidacy.
  5. Candidate must be 21 years of age.
