01-09-09 Moye’s Pharmacy Holds Ribbon Cutting and receives Façade Reimbursement Check

On January 9th, Moye’s Pharmacy marked the grand opening of its new location at 62 Keys Ferry Street, formerly the home of Family Dollar, with a Ribbon Cutting and Façade Grant Presentation hosted by Main Street McDonough.

After serving the citizens of McDonough and Henry County for 31 years at Moye’s on John Frank Ward Boulevard, the time for change had come. “We really needed more space,” said Principal Owner Tony Moye. The staff simply packed up and moved less than two blocks to a newly remodeled and larger home. Moye and Co-owner, Loren Pierce, did the honors and cut the official red ribbon. Family members, Main Street Advisory Board and committee members, along with Downtown Development Authority (DDA) members and DDA Chairperson and Councilmember Sandra Vincent, representing the City of McDonough, attended the ceremonies.

Today, there are seven Moye’s Pharmacy locations around the county, but this particular location in McDonough is referred to by employees as “Moye’s Central” and holds the honor of being the original store opened by Tony Moye.

Director Schenk, DDA Chairperson Vincent, and Main Street Advisory Board Chair Lee Freeman presented the Façade Grant reimbursement check to Moye following the ribbon cutting and extended their congratulations.

Main Street’s Façade Grant Improvement Program is a reimbursement grant offered to businesses and commercial property owners located within the Main Street District. Through this program, applicants may be reimbursed up to 50% of the cost of improved renovations not to exceed a maximum amount of $2500 per applicant. Reimbursements are based on availability of funds.

“Our customers have been very loyal, and we wanted to provide them with easier access and better parking as well as a drive thru,” stated Co-owner Pierce. He added, “We are now the oldest pharmacy in Henry County and look forward to serving our customers, old and new, for years to come.” Moye’s now offers A Better Health Club, 90 days for $12.00, to customers.
