10-10-08 Third Graders Tour McDonough
McDonough Elementary School third graders recently spend most of the day touring their hometown government and judicial systems to gain a better understanding of just how they operate. Teachers Krystal Shaw, Ashley Yarber, Karen Mitchell and Sara Gugel accompanied their students while touring the Henry County Courthouse and the new County Judicial Building; McDonough City Hall, which also included a visit with Mayor Billy Copeland; and a stop by Chevy’s Diner & Ice Cream Parlor on Macon Street for a refreshing cup of chocolate or vanilla ice cream compliments of Main Street McDonough. This tour is an annual field trip for McDonough Elementary third grade classes.
Several students and teachers enjoy their ice cream out on the sidewalk while other students are being served inside Chevy’s Diner & Ice Cream Parlor on Macon Street.
These students are seated on the stools waiting on their ice cream. Chevy’s Diner & Ice Cream Parlor owner, Neil Daniell, is behind the soda fountain dishing up cups of either vanilla or chocolate ice cream. (Does Norman Rockwell come to mind??)
