The Media Relations Specialist for the city of McDonough is responsible for communications between the city and all forms of media. The Mayor, City Council and other city officials are involved in many positive and beneficial activities which are aimed at making McDonough an exciting, productive and economically advanced city in which to live, work and play. It is their opinion that the citizens of McDonough be well informed about the positive plans, actions, decisions and events orchestrated by the Mayor and City Council as they continually strive for the betterment of McDonough. It is the responsibility of the Media Relations Specialist to inform the citizens of McDonough via appropriate media regarding these activities.
The Media Relations Specialist is also responsible for generating informative articles, press releases and related photographs whenever opportunities arise, specifically prior to and following special events scheduled by various departments within the city government. The Media Relations Specialist organizes and directs special events or portions thereof as dictated by the Mayor and/or City Manager. One of the major events for which the Media Relations Specialist has significant responsibility is the Roberto Clemente World Series, the design of the multi-page process color World Series program as well as the selling of ads contained within the program.
The Media Relations Specialist serves as the liaison between the City of McDonough and both the City Parks and Recreation and the Henry County Parks and Recreation Departments. The Media Relations Specialist is responsible for seeing that the city website, www.mcdonoughga.org, is continually updated and new information is added as made available. The Media Relations Specialist is the liaison between the city and the web-master for this website. This position is also responsible for responding and/or forwarding to appropriate employee(s) any inquiries received via the city website contact line. The Media Relations Specialist is the editor, writer, photographer, and designer of the City of McDonough’s monthly e-newsletter, McDonough Matters, published at the end of each month on the city website. City government news and activities are included as well as other information that is of interest or beneficial to the citizens of McDonough.
