The McDonough City Council meets the first and third Monday’s of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers on the second floor of City Hall. A Council Workshop is held the Thursday before the first Monday Council meeting each month at 5:30 p.m.

Council Members: Mayor Pro Tem Rufus Stewart, Kamali Varner, Gail Notti, Rufus Stewart and Rufus Amis.

McDonough's City Council is elected by the residents of McDonough to provide the vision, leadership and policies necessary to meet the needs of our citizens and this community. The McDonough City Council consists of six elected officials who serve four year terms and are elected on rotating bases—three members two years apart. The City Council is responsible for the oversight of the City, voting on issues and legislating laws that govern the day-to-day operations of the McDonough City government. The power of this governing body is defined within the Charter of the City of McDonough. It is by this Charter, the Constitution and applicable general laws of the State of Georgia and duly established city ordinances that they sit as City Council members to give diligent consideration to every matter placed before them enabling each member to render a fair and honest decision.
