The Mayor is elected by the citizens of McDonough and serves a four year term as the honorable Mayor of the City of McDonough. His power is defined within the Charter of the City of McDonough. It is by this Charter, the Constitution and applicable general laws of the State of Georgia and duly established city ordinances that he sit as McDonough Mayor to give diligent consideration to every matter placed before him and to render a fair and honest decision in every matter. The Mayor of the City of McDonough is sworn in during the first City Council meeting in January following the Mayoral election.
MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR
“The guiding principal that the Council and I share for the City of McDonough is to value the trust of our citizens. We will provide honest, responsible, and visionary leadership for the purpose of continually improving our services, encouraging citizen participation, and reinstating openness in government. We will identify and develop opportunities for education, training, and health wellness. We will act as good stewards of tax monies. We will establish and maintain an atmosphere of unity among all citizens to ensure that the City of McDonough is a safe, secure, and wonderful community in which to live, work, and raise a family.”
