And Pirates

The Main Street McDonough Program hosts the second annual Princess & Pirates Parade on Saturday, April 28 with participants and parents gathering behind the Judicial Building for registration starting at 10:00 a.m. The parade of youngsters will start at 11:45 a.m.

The turnout for the 2011 inaugural parade was much larger than expected with more than 150 youngsters dressed as either princesses or pirates. Forming a very long line, they marched up Keys Ferry Street to the Square where each young princess participant was invited on stage to be introduced to the large audience gathered in the park.

Main Street Director Linda Schenk stated that the coordinators of the 2011 parade, Councilwoman Sandra Vincent and local artist Barbara Frazier, were so pleased and excited with such a large number of participants, especially for the first year. “We hope this year’s event is even bigger and better,” said Director Schenk. “They were quite a sight last year and so cute.”

Serving as Mistress of Ceremonies at this year’s event will be the reigning 2012 Miss Georgia Teen USA, and McDonough resident, Courtney Lynne Smits. For information or to register a child, call Main Street at 770-898-9868.
